My father was manager of the Cape Of Good Hope National Park in Cape Town South Africa. My family and I spent my entire childhood and teenage years living in a game reserve, which is why I say my passion for wildlife is in my blood!
As soon as I could, I followed in my father’s footsteps and studied to become a dangerous game wildlife guide. For 7 years I lead many guests on vehicle, walking and marine safaris in some of Africa’s most renowned wildlife reserves. I spent a number of years working in South Africa, Tanzania, Mozambique, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
In 2014 South Africa experienced an onslaught of rhino poaching. I have an unexplainable love for rhinos and headed up an anti-poaching unit based on private game reserves in KwaZulu Natal to protect these endangered species against organised criminals. A few years on and I was running anti-wildlife trafficking projects for the World Wildlife Fund WWF as the Law Enforcement Technical Advisor. What an accomplishment this was for me and after some time I returned back to the tourism and lodge industry. The lodges were located at some of the most incredible safari destinations in Africa.
A combination of scuba diving and wildlife photography is what drives me to explore some of these wonderful landscapes. This has led us to create Echo Wild Africa.

Ashley and I have grown up together, as kids, we used to climb every mountain top, swim in all the lakes and rivers, surf, and dive. We studied together and Ashley followed his passion for the ocean and completed his professional marine and wildlife guiding qualification while I followed mine in dangerous game walking safaris and wildlife protection.
We have both been working in local game reserves and marine protected areas conducting wildlife monitoring for rhinos, wild dogs, dolphins and turtles. Over the years we have gathered so much vital knowledge about the best areas to encounter wildlife. Ashley has been running scuba diving and ocean experience safaris for 5-star lodges on tropical islands such as Principe, Sao Tome, Seychelles and Kosi Bay the elephant coast. Ashley currently captains our dolphin encounter safaris in Mozambique, follow our blog on dolphin tourism in Ponta Do Ouro for more info!
Ashley started monitoring logger head and leatherback turtles in the world heritage site of iSimangaliso in 2012 and has since been actively contributing to scientific research and monitoring of these giant turtles along the coast between South Africa and Mozambique.
